Caring for your Stainless Steel

There are many different cleaning procedures suggested by a multitude of organizations and individuals including: stainless manufactures, designers, homeowners, etc.

Never use chloride based cleansing liquids, such as bleach. Use may permanently stain and corrode the stainless surface.

Clean with warm water, mild soap, or ammonia. Rinse and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Always wipe surface with a non-abrasive cleaning pad; such as a damp rag or a sponge.

Steel wool is not for cleaning finished stainless, ever!

Refinishing Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel is subject to denting and scratching, even thought it is a tough metal surface. Surfaces will sustain minor scratches in everyday use and will dent if a heavy object is dropped on it. Deep dents are virtually non-repairable, but most surface scratches can be polished out with the use of various abrasives and a medium amount of effort.

For best results, start with a 180 grit hand pad. Work out scratches with short strokes. Follow the grain, feathering into unscratched areas. For larger affect areas, use care not to drag the hand pad to a new position, it will cause additional scratches across the grain. Don't rush! Go slow and constantly check the area being polished.
